Hazelwood Hawks Basketball Club was founded out of the Belfast City Council Everybody Active 2020 programme. In partnership with Basketball Northern Ireland, Andy Mulholland was employed to lead a project based at Hazelwood Integrated College with three aims: to introduce basketball in PE classes, to establish an after-school programme, and to build a community club open to young people across the area.

The club was formally constituted in 2017 and has grown steadily since, now competing in both junior and senior Basketball Northern Ireland leagues.

Our philosophy is built on holistic coaching, developing players both on and off the court and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to play and compete, regardless of background or ability.The club is open to children and young people from all schools and areas across Belfast, Antrim and Newtownabbey, making it a truly inclusive and community-based club.
